Kim Holm (b. 1952) lives and works in Jutland, Denmark. When he started working with the cylinder, he had no idea how this simple form would capture his imagination. Holm has been utterly seduced by its simplicity and possibilities for variation. Many of these pieces have gone through several layers of glazing and numerous firings before they obtained the texture and depth he was seeking. Furthermore comes the glaze, that sometimes smoothly follows the form, other times runs, drips or crackles which creates those very unique textures.
