Vicke Lindstrand

Victor Emanuel Lindstrand, known as Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. He was a Swedish glass, textile and ceramic designer, and also painter. He started a career in commercial illustration before moving into glasswork.

In 1928, he was employed by Orrefors, a glassware design company, where he began experimenting with enameled glass. He is particularly celebrated for the technical dexterity of his enameled and engraved glass crafted using a vast array of techniques, many of which he revolutionised.

In 1942, Lindstrand left Orrefors to work for Upsala-Ekeby and Karlskrona Porslinfabrik, where he designed groundbreaking pieces with simple lines and strong expression. After 10 years, he left Upsala-Ekeby to work for different glass companies throughout the end of his career.
