Zbigniew Horbowy

Zbigniew Horbowy (1935-2019) was a Polish artist working in industrial design, one of the most outstanding Polish glass designers, graduated from the Wrocław Art School in 1959. He was the first student in Poland to graduate in Glass Design. He was one of the first to boldly and determinedly attempt to introduce modern designs of vascular glasses to mass production.

In the 1960s, the “antico” decorative glasses designed by Horbowy, which used the value of a mass of glass foamed with air bubbles, were particularly popular. As the artist emphasizes – form and color – these are two elements that have always fascinated him in designing.
