The Chain Reaction

Hello Boomers, Gen Z, Millenials, Alphas, etc. It is 1955, Rosa Parks becomes an international icon of resistance, James Dean dies in a car accident, Eero Saarinen designs the iconic Tulip chair and H55 the largest design exhibition is held in Helsingborg, Sweden.

H55 was dedicated to modern architecture, industrial design and home furnishing featuring the work of leading designers like Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, Bruno Mathsson, Herbert Hirche and Stig Lindberg to name a few.

Besides, Stig Lindberg designed and produced the “DOMINO” Series in 1954 for the Gustavsberg factory and launched it during the H55 exhibition, where he made his international debut. The artware series consisted of several vases and dishes, ashtrays and cigarette cups. The objects came with geometric shapes, stylistic relief patterns and were first produced in black & white colours. Later, grey, brown and light blue tones were added to the collection. Black and white dishes and a cigarette cup adorned with the H55 logo could be purchased as souvenirs at the exhibition.

You’ve always dreamed of buying one of those pieces? Or you’re just curious to see what they look like? You are lucky, we have a limited number of those rare pieces among others from the Domino series available on our website.
